Clinic of virology

The clinic of scientific research institute of Virology has been organized on the basis of 2-infectious diseases hospital in 2006. The Basic area of clinic is to help to the treatment-and-prophylactic by patients with HIV-infection, acute and chronic virus hepatitises, hepatocirrhosis and intestinal infections.

There is doing antiretroviral therapy to patients with AIDS in clinic. Clinic has 200 beds and consists of departments:

• Diarrhea diseases department (1-5 ages)
• HIV/AIDS diseases department for moms and children
• Viral hepatitis diseases department for adults
• HIV/AIDS department for adults
• Resuscitation department
• Intensive care department for patients with liver pathology
• Reception
• Dispensary-polyclinic department

The basic goals of clinic are:

• Clinical and lab observation and treatment opportunistic infection with HIV/AIDS people
• Consulting supporting
• Consultation on adherence to highly active antiretrovirus therapies
• Prescription of medicine and treatment
• Control and treatment complication

HIV/AIDS department admits patients from all regions of Uzbekistan. The departments of viral hepatitis are patients with viral hepatitis A, B, C, D and etc. They get inpatient treatment.

Department of intestinal infection the treatment of patients are different etiology (salmonellas, dysentery, food poisoning toxic infections and etc). The clinic always keeps in touch with Virology institute.

Patients consult leading experts. Complex works of HIV infection department: the Republican AIDS center: the City AIDS center and also the regional AIDS centers. The clinic co-operates with the National AIDS centers of the CIS countries (Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and Russia).

Clinic holds scientifically-practical conferences with participation of scientific staff of institute monthly.

Scientific Research Institute of Virology of Ministry of Health of Republic Uzbekistan holds research works of 7 grants: 1 of fundamental character, 5 of applied character, 1 of interdepartmental project.
